About Doug Sjoquist

Doug Sjoquist makes things. Some of those things are tangible — wooden castles and toys for grandchildren or landscapes on which gardens can grow. Some of those are intangible — turning rough designs into software and turning raw ideas into stories.

He thrives in the world that God made. Watching a summer sunset with his wife reminds him of his blessings. A solo walk on a quiet trail refills his well. A mountain hike invigorates him. Paddling through glassy waters connects him to his grandkids and the natural world in a way so few things can.

Doug crafts stories to capture readers, attempting to emulate just a snippet of the indescribable imagination and creativity his creator and savior, Jesus, has shown.

The Sjoquists live on a dead-end road bordering a park and lake in the last vestiges of what passes for wilderness in southwestern Ohio. He and his wife have reached a detente with the local wildlife and offer up portions of their garden each year to them. In exchange, the deer and critters begrudgingly allow them the use of the nearby woods for zip lines, ninja lines, tree forts, and hiking.

He yearns for the mountains and wilderness, but while waiting for the next excursion, he sits on his porch, hikes his woods, canoes his lake, and makes up tales of mystery and adventure that take him back to the wild places he loves.
